5-31-10
We made it, we left at 9:00 from Caseys in Varna. Neighbor Bob owes me a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper. He bet we would be here at high noon.

Mississippi Mud is the name for todays blog. We made it a whole 1.5 miles before our 1st blow out. Looks like we will need to replace the one tire that wasn’t replaced with the tune ups of the 2 bikes.

The real adventure was riding from Pierre Marquette SP to Grafton on a very nice trail that was flooded sometime very recently had what appeared to be a thin coat of mud on it. With in about 300 ft enough mud had built up on the tires to bring them to a stop. We walked / drug our bikes to the nearest place where we could get up to the road. A very nice lady outside Grafton let us use her hose to spray the mud off the bikes which was caked everywhere. After that little adventure we road on toward Alton (kind of doing things backwards (was going to do Harford – just south of Alton.- Grafton). We made it to mile 16 when we were stopped by our 2nd flat. That ended our day of biking.

  1. Hey, even though you have blowouts now and then just do not give up biking. And blogging. Best luck to you and your family. :)

  2. Keep on riding Busken family! Don't let the flat tires get you down. Sounds like the Busken family already has adventures on the 1st day to talk about.
    Good luck on day #2.

  3. Sounds like a nightmare to me! Thank goodness for the support vehicle. Get those flats out of the way now while you have backup. LOL Day 2 has to be better, right?
